What to do:

Call us at one of the numbers on your insurance card, we are available 24/7. If you’re in Canada or the U.S., use the toll-free number. If you’re anywhere else in the world, you may call us collect.

For Hearing-Impaired Members :
To reach us, please dial 711 on your TTY (Teletypewriter) to use the TRS (Telecommunications Relay Service) and ask the operator to connect you to the assistance number on the back of your insurance card.
Additionally, you can also contact us prior departure for more information on the assistance process and the best ways to contact us during your trip.

You must speak with CanAssistance before seeing a doctor outside your province of residence. If it’s an emergency and you are unable to call, go to the nearest hospital or clinic. When you have found medical help, contact us and we will open your assistance file.

What will happen next:

  • One of our assistance professionals will evaluate your needs, open your file, and direct you to the nearest clinic or hospital that offers the best available care.
  • Our team member will confirm whether your emergency is covered and, if possible, handle the payment directly, so you don’t have to pay up front.
  • Our medical team will assess your condition and make plans for follow‑up treatment if further care is required.
  • Our medical team will contact your loved ones or your family doctor as needed.
  • We will stay in touch with you throughout your hospital stay and for external consultations until your condition is stable or resolved.
